Resistors are manufactured in a wide range of standard so-called "preferred" values. The lower the resistance tolerance, the greater the number of available values. We stock 5% tolerance resistors only, in 1/4, 1/2, 1w, and 2w ratings, of the carbon composition type. Our power resistors are stocked in 5w and 10w ratings, but the range of available values is different for power resistors. These power resistors are wire-wound, ceramic encapsulated, and therefore cannot be used in circuits where non-inductive resistors are required.
